The stereotype of a starving actor earning a living in the food industry isn’t too far off the mark in the case of Elizabeth Kennedy. Elizabeth herself was introduced to the world of catering while attending theatrical school in New York City. Working part time for Newsweek Magazine’s former chef, the late David Thorne, later a caterer extraordinaire. His passion for food was only matched by his passion for creating extravaganzas for celebrities and businesses such as Elizabeth Taylor, American Express, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Chanel, and Diana Ross. In fact, Elizabeth later worked for Ms. Ross, as both a nanny to her children, party planner for holidays and assistant to her production company, Anaid.
Elizabeth moved to Vero Beach, Florida in 1984, only after having the serendipitous fortune of catering a party for the icon of home-and-heath hospitality, Martha Stewart herself. Today, EDK & Co. is the premiere catering service in this affluent seaside community on Florida’s East Coast, sometimes catering upwards of 50 parties a week in high season.
It is not uncommon for celebrities such as Oscar de la Rente, Henry “the Fonz” Winkler, Judy Collins, Bernadette Peters, Geoffrey Beene, Jane Pauley, Jay Leno, Patricia Neal, Rita Moreno, Chirs Madden, and even such politicians as Vice President Mike Pence, Presidential hopeful John McCain, Cory Booker, Rick Scott, Ron DeSantis, Jeb Bush, Colin Powell, Marco Rubio, and Lindsey Graham.
“My theatrical background has served me well,” comments Elizabeth. “These parties and events are my stage!”
And certainly the local community agrees Elizabeth Kennedy deserves her star on the sidewalk of fame, voting EDK & Co. “Best Caterer” for many year running (including 2021!).
Whether it’s a hangar, field or a floating barge EDK & Co. and our devoted team are able to deliver a visual feast that is not just for the discriminating palate, but the overall incredible experience of entertaining worry-free. And not least…the memories.
